Brainstorming

Brainstorming

In our group we have started to brainstorm our ideas in order to be able to get an achievable idea that will work well with the audience we are aiming for, which is thriller loving teenagers.

So far what we have done, is individually come up with some mood boards with key elements that we want to involve. We then brought certain aspects of our mood boards together and are now developing our, hopefully, final idea.

*insert mood boards*

The ideas that we have brought together are as follows:
  • Adam's idea of having the birds-eye shot of the 'hunter' closing in on a target on a hill/in a graveyard
  • Naomi's idea of orchestral music to create and build the suspense
  • My idea of an invisible creature and a significant piece of jewellery used in order to see them
Using these ideas, Adam, Naomi and I bounced ideas off of each other and came up with different editing techniques that we will use, for example Naomi said that she would like to edit the colouring of the shots so that when the jewellery is being worn, the world is seen in black and white. Adam also suggested that, as we are only creating a film opening, we could make it a flash-forward or a flashback so that the audience is left wanting to know more, we have even toyed with the idea of just having this mysterious scene with no context and just cutting straight to the title when it reaches it's climax.

Adam and Naomi have been looking into some orchestral songs from the 16th century, as a result of them being so old they will no longer have copyright laws attached to them. We have also looked into different real-world sounds that we can in-cooperate to make a more effective sense of disorientation.

I have been researching make-up and costume and I have a vision of the invisible creature being female and having bold black eye make up with striking red lipstick, her hair done intricately but her attire juxtaposing this initial sense of order as suggested by her hair and make-up.

As a group we've come up with different ideas for our location, taking into account our theme and our vision of different key shots that we want to involve. Keeping this in mind, I came up with two ideas: Tonbridge cemetery and Haysden Lake, both of which have some tree coverage and, at the same time, both can be presented as isolated but also accessible.

Practicality wise, we have settled on Haysden as the location. This may change but if we want to use a drone to get different birds-eye shots then this is the most suitable as it is not near people's houses/gardens, whereas the cemetery is, and it may be seen as disrespectful of us if we use a real cemetery for our media.
